ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks stun the Indiana Pacers 131-130, walking off with a last-second 3-pointer by Seth Lundy.
Quin Snyder was configuring lineups for the Hawks, so we saw many combinations, and the starters were only playing the first half of the game. All players saw the floor tonight except Bogdan Bogdanović and Onyeka Okongwu due to injuries.
Trae Young wanted to involve his teammates, opting to share the ball rather than score. Jalen Johnson looked comfortable as a second option, ready to make an all-star-level jump. Hunter shot 2/10 for field goals and 0/6 for 3-pointers, which he will bounce back next game.
Risacher is living up to the hype as the first overall pick of the 2024-25 NBA Draft. He finishes with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, and a team-high +15. Risacher looked comfortable for his first official NBA game. He did not look nervous and played his game without being sped up.
“Everybody encourages me to showcase what I can do,” Risacher said.”I try to rebound, pass the ball, and do whatever the team needs.”
This game had a lot of energy, feeling like a regular season game. The Hawks win their first game and look to face the Philadelphia 76ers next week at home.
