
ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks rout the Washington Wizards, 129-117, in their second game in the Emirates NBA Cup.
Trae Young and De’Andre Hunter made their return tonight. Young contributed 18 points and nine assists. He also reached the 4000 career assists milestone, making him one of the fastest players to do so in NBA history.
For the first time this season, the Hawks had eight players score in double digits. Hunter came off the bench with 22 points in 21 minutes. Onyeka had a double-double off the bench, with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Garrison Matthews had 12 points with two 3-pointers.
Clint Capela also had a double-double, with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Jalen Johnson flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 18 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. Zaccharie Risacher pitched in 11 points in 27 minutes.
Dyson Daniels continues his Defensive Player of the Year and Most Improved Player campaign. He was the Hawk’s leading scorer with 25 points, contributing six steals. His four-game stretch of 15+ points and 4+ steals is the longest since Michael Jordan since the 1989-1990 NBA season.
The Hawks had a 20-point lead, but the Wizards made a run to cut the lead to 12 points toward the end of the game.
